Create an invisible man wallpaper in Photoshop
Today we will be creating a wallpaper with an invisible man in it. Since the guy is invisible, only a few things can make him appear and be seen — diffraction of light and rain are just a couple of them.
If you watched the Invisible Man movie, you will know what this tutorial and wallpaper are about.

Step 1
Pick two images, a stock of a man and a stock of a sea. Open the stock image of a man of your choice, use your skill to cut out the man. We assume here you already know how to cut out an image from the background. Once that is done, move the image on top of the sea image.

Step 2
Hide the Background layer (sea image) and use the Desaturate command (press Ctrl + Shilf + U), which converts a color image to grayscale values.

Step 3
Save this file in PSD format. I saved it as InvisibleMan.psd
Step 4
Open the eyes of background layer and hide the man layer. Duplicate the man layer (Ctrl + J). Then go to Filter > Distort > Displace, with the following settings:

Step 5
After you hit Ok, it will open the table. Choose the file you saved before (InvisibleMan.psd). See…

Note: The more Horizontal and Vertical is high the more clear. But not too high.
Step 6
Create a new layer (CtrL + Shilf + N), fill it with black color, set the blending mode to Screen.
Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise

Apply the motion blur filter: Filter > Blur > Motion Blur

Open Blending Options, at “Blending Optoins: Custom” choose the following setting:

Use the motion blur filter again, Filter > Blur > Motion Blur

Now, we have the rain.
Step 7
Open stock water images, or if you have water brushes, use them — I used water images here. After you cut them out background, move them to main file and change Blending Mode to Screen.

Step 8
This color should be different from the rain color. So we have darken it a little bit.
Create a new fill by click the New Adjustment Layer button
at the bottom of the Layers palette and choose Hue/Saturation.
Use the setting as follows:

Click the New Adjustment Layer button at the bottom of the Layers palette, and choose Color Balance.
Settings:

Step 9
Press Ctrl + Shilf + Alt + E to merge all layers. We have new layer. Now use Topaz Adjust (Download a free trial version). After you set it up, you may need to restart Photoshop. Then open file and go to Filter > Topaz Labs > Topaz Adjust.
Setting:

Finally, we have our result:
Unfortunately, we cannot distribute a dev pack for this tutorial — we don’t have a license to distribute the images we used to demonstrate the technique. We hope that the tutorial is straightforward enough, though, and it shouldn’t be hard to follow with different stock images that you may have.
