Interior room scene in Maya: Part 2
This is Part 2, in which we will texture and light up our interior scene using studio light setup. See the previous post for instructions on how to model the scene from scratch.
Step 1
First lets start with our sofa. Go to windows> Render editors>Hypershade. Create mia material, Select the material slot in hypershade and press ctrl A. In attribute Editor name the material as sofa ans set the color as shown below. Set the roughens to 0.500, reflectivity t = 0.280, Glossines = 0.340, Glossines samples = 16. Select sofa and apply this material to our object.

Step 2
Creating material for the table. For this I used two materials: one is glass and the second one is chrome for the legs. I also applied the same chrome material to sofa legs. Go to Windows>rendering editor>hypershade. create another mia_material. open attribute editor and name it glass . Set the color setting as below. Set the reflection and reflectivity as shown below. Select the glass and apply this material to glass.

Step 4
Applying rug material to Carpet.
Remember when we started creating our carpet we started it wih NURBS, To apply material to our carpet we have to convert it into poylgon. Go to Modify> Convert to> Nurbs to polygon.
Open hypershade and create mia material. In the material attribute load carpet material to color slot. Reflectivity to 0 and glossiness to full.

Next scroll down and apply bump material in bump settings.

Step 5
In the same way I applied materials to the cushions. Steps are same as shown above for the carpet.
Step 6
This is the time where i will put lights in the scene and set the light settings to studio environment. To light up our scene I used two area lights with the following settings. Both lights in the scene have the same settings.

Step 7
Your render look like this. Now the next step is post production. Usually I do Post-Production in After Effects. In After Effects you have full control over color correction, brightness and contrast.
